For married couples filing jointly, the state taxes income over $6000 at 5%. Social Security benefits are exempt. Federal and state benefits are exempt. Defined benefit plans are exempt.
Property taxes in Alabama are among the lowest in the nation. And in Enterprise, Alabama the residential property is taxed at $43.50 per $1000 assessed on 10% of market value if homesteaded and and 20% of market value if not homesteaded.
